Getting to know our
Youth President
October 2018 | Feature Story

Over lunch at our sectors youth convention, Nana Atuahene and I talked about his life. I was amazed about how he opened up and told even the darkest secret of his past life. I had a thousand and one follow up questions as I listened to him. The endless list of questions began with a rhetoric; were you really going to stab someone? Followed by the whys, when and all other questions I could think of.

Matthew 10:28 Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

I am not the only one that Nana’s story has inspired and I believe it is worth sharing; especially with members of the youth. So, the part of me that loves to write decided to follow up to know who Witness President better. So here you go, you have the chance to know about all we talked about that. I hope this strengthens your faith in the Lord as it did with mine.

What is life like after being converted? I really gave myself more to God right after being converted. I went to church and read my Bible more. I wanted to know God more. I dug deeper into the word of God.
What challenges face when you became born again Majority of my friends were still in the world. I tried to balance friends and being the world. I knew it was wrong but I didn’t have any other friends. I did not necessarily do what they did but I felt uncomfortable because I did not have any other friends. But I felt the Holy Spirit prompting me about keeping bad company but I did not know what to do. Eventually, my friends did not want to hang out with me anymore because they noticed a difference.

Nana Atuahene's Testimony

How did you overcome these challenges? The hunger to know God stayed with me. That became a replacement for the desire to please my friends. One of my favorite verses is from Luke 7:47 “Therefore I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven; that's why she loved much. But the one who is forgiven little, loves little." I know I have been forgiven much so I want to love God with all my heart.

Tell me about your spiritual growth: It is better for us to live with the knowledge that God and heaven are real. It is better to understand that God is real. We are to live our life with that expectancy. If your eyes worry you, cut it off. Heaven is real, God is real. Let us not hold on to everything. One of the people I looked up to when I became a Christian was Nii Quaye, who is now a pastor. Nii Quaye’s impact in my life played an important role. He was there for me at the right time. He helped when I decided to be a Christian. It was his influence that encouraged me. He was the person that helped me start the witness movement in Virginia.
